History of the territory
Le Marche, the ancient name of "March of Ancona" was modified in 1860 with the annexation of the kingdom of Italy giving it a plurality in the typical urban dimension and independent of any small town perched on hilltops and along the landscape and the culture harmonizes all its cultural factors.
Full of poets, musicians and painters. Inhabited since the Iron Age by the Piceni, the Greeks founded a colony in Ancona. In the following period the Romans defeated the Piceni attach the territories in Rome after the fall of the empire between 1500 and 1600, the region becomes the Papal States.
Only at the Battle of Castelfidardo, Garibaldi and Vittorio Emanuele united Italian territories.
